- “Tranquilo. We’ve been under siege for hundreds of years. Don’t get selfish.” Best reflects the hidden theme of the movie: while the extreme left and right fight over the land which is not theirs, those whose it is are running their own Underground Railroad.
- About people and power. There’s no great hero or villain. All characters are overdramatized one-dimensional, but not boring. Grounded and keeps moving.
- Pussy is a weapon. The weapons are fun.
- From reading other reviews, it can be viewed as fetishizing black women. I personally didn’t feel the lead actresses were misused.
- Sean Penn limp soldier walk, talk and confined closeted rage keep stealing the scene.
- The textured look and enormous aspect ratio of VistaVision (70mm) used for close ups is CINEMA.
- Revolutionary friend harmony devices are used sparingly and are a brilliant way to incorporate a theme for a friendly encounter
